Name: Ramona (3)
Location: Arlington, Texas
My daughter is obsessed with airplanes. It just so happens that Red Jett Sweets is a cupcake food truck out of Fort Worth that fit right in to the airplane theme. We used the truck colors - red and teal - as the party colors. My husband designed the invitations and the party graphics in Illustrator. We spray painted airplanes red and made clouds using poly-fill to hang over the food and drink tables. I bought 2 suitcases and painted one red and one teal. I lined them with red and teal fabric for our in-flight snacks (truffle popcorn and chips). We used a plane cookie cutter to cut out our sandwiches. Our cheese plate was arranged on a USA cutting board from Target.
The Red Jett Sweets truck provided the cupcakes - vanilla, banana with nutella frosting, and strawberry. We made a chocolate cake as well.
The kids played pin the propeller on the plane. A game I found on Hip Hip Hooray. We created a Birthday Getaway game where kids threw planes into hula hoops "taking off" from Dallas-Fort Worth and "landing" in either LA, NYC, or Orlando. We picked the destinations because Ramona has traveled to them this year. We had wooden airplanes for the kids to paint as a craft.
We had a photobooth with clouds and airplanes that matched the invitation.
The Arlington Fire Department saw the party and stopped by unexpectedly to let the kids climb into the fire truck. The food truck with the fire truck made for very happy 3-year-olds.
