Best Kids Parties: Angry Birds

My Party

Name: Raedin (5)
Location: Gilbert, AZ

Like most kids, my son is smitten with Angry Birds. Obsessed even. His birthday (April 1st!) fell one day before his big sister's. So to help stay within budget, I had to get crafty.

His cake was completely playable. Using the figures from one of the board games as the toppers h was able to fling a bird from one round cake over to the other, knocking down the pigs.

Each guest got his very own Angry Bird t-shirt that I made for less than $3 each. It took me about 15 min per shirt to cut out felt, Under Wonder, and sew. Not too shabby, eh?

For activities:
1) Taking turns wearing the GIANT costume I had sewn for Halloween, each boy ran and knocked down boxes that had been stacked with green pig balloons.

2) Golden Egg Hunt! There are hidden golden eggs throughout the levels on Angry Birds, so the boys had to find them hidden around the yard!

3) King Pig Pinata. He was the hit (get it?) of the party! All the kids were so excited to knock him down. Who doesn't enjoy a pinata?

My local party supply had a few items like plates and cups, but for decorations we had to come up with things ourselves. My son has a poster that looks like the loading screen for the game, so that went on the door as guests entered. We drew pig faces on green balloons and threw them about. I also used a throw blanket his grandpa sent him as a back drop. Sadly, my camera deleted the images of the decor. :(

Thanks Christine! Readers, see more of Raedin's party on The Crafty Woman.
