After a visit earlier in the year to the South Australian Aviation Museum, we knew this was the perfect place for energy abound 6 year olds to run around and have fun. We decided on a vintage styled Aviation event with a rustic feel to all the elements.
The hand illustrated and painted World War I Bristol Fighter plane was chosen for the invites, to best capture the theme of the event and was printed on textured card.
In the lead up to the event, I spent many nights knitting bunting to create a warm feeling to the table after finding the pattern in a Country Style Craft Magazine. I loved the idea of including my mum's original school case for the cake stand and my childhood world globe.
The backdrop for the sweets table was an actual F-111 Jet Plane that coupled perfectly with the camouflage invitations and was better than I had ever imagined!
Chocolate macarons were supplied by my favorite macaron maker Lil Miss Macaron and the cookies where hand-made, illustrated and painted by myself.
The birthday boy is fussy with types of cakes and frosting so we opted for a simple chocolate cake with a rough cast icing and to decorate we purchased an Airfix Model. My husband and son both had lots of fun constructing the model plane together and painting it for the party, which made it even more special on the day.
I thoroughly enjoyed developing this event and the children loved it as much I had hoped!
