Name: Krosby
Location: Glendale, AZ
I wish I could claim this little cutie as mine, but she actually belongs to my BFF, Shelby. I had so much fun helping plan the party! The theme of the party was balloons because Krosby is a big fan and we figured this would be a very cute and easy party theme to work with.
After deciding the color scheme (purple and aqua), I created and made the invites that are complete with little spools wrapped in purple baker's twine (awww!). The dessert table was my domain. The budget was small so I had to get creative. A lot of the items on the table were made by hand with stuff I already owned. For example the cake stand was two candle holders spray painted and glued together. I used leftover paper from the envelope liners, cut it in strips, and folded it accordian style and glued it around the edge.
Because the party took place at a park with bbq grills Mom decided to put Dad to work and do easy, but very tasty, hot dogs and cheeseburgers. For dessert we had vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting sprinkled with purple and aqua sprinkles.
Kids played at the nearby park or chased the many pigeons around. The party was decorated with purple polka dot table cloths and lots and lots of balloons (of course!). We also did a mini-photo shoot before the party with a huge balloon I bought at Shop Sweet Lulu. We couldn't be happier with how this low budget DIY party turned out!
Thanks Lindsey! Readers, see more of this party at Very Truly Me.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Wow, Medusa, way to rain on someone's parade.
I think the party table looks adorable -- love the color schemes and the overall design.
I will admit to some mixed feelings about the general use of balloons as decorations -- a personal hang-up about the use of helium given that helium is in short supply, and, the fact that popped balloons pose a potential choking hazard for little ones -- but the way you decorated the table looks like a very safe and secure way of using balloons, and a beautiful one to boot.
Seriously???? I have been an environmentalist for almost twenty years, and I am mother to a sixteen year old boy, and both of the previous posts are jaw-droppingly silly.
Great job on the party!!!
Very cute party! Many of the ideas can translate to adult parties as well. Great job!
(100% latex balloons are biodegradeable...)
This is another adorable kid's party. It's so nice to see the return of the down-to-earth, well-thought-out kids' parties that don't break the bank. Are the days of competitively extravagant childrens' birthday parties over? I hope so.
JHAAP is right. Balloons are 100% biodegradable. In other news, Lindsey, I love what you did! The color combinations, especially, are fresh and not too girly (I'm so sick of pink!).
Oh Medusa, how very sad for you.
I clicked on this post because I LOVE the colour scheme!! So fresh for a birthday party theme, especially for a little girl. I think the 'low budget' parties come out looking the best. Great job!
Great job :) The "theme" for my girl's third BD party was also balloons, and cake :) What more do you need, especially when they are still so small?????
I love the colors! My girly girl would love it too! She adores pink but I am just not into it but wont deny her favorites because its not mine. Great new girly girl combo!
The initial practically is so arresting. So many pretty, vibrant colors.
@Chenell: Perhaps I'm reacting a bit here to having my comment lumped in the same category as Medusa's comment -- here are some links that may help you understand why choking and helium shortage are not (in my opinion) "jaw-droppingly silly" issues.

But to the main intent of the post here, I still think this is a truly lovely use of balloons, a beautiful color scheme, and a lovely looking party!
My mom works for a florist and they're now charging $10 PER BALLOON because their helium supplier can no longer get helium and thinks it will be MAYBE next year before they replenish their supply. So once the flower shop's tank runs out, that's pretty much it until possibly 2013. Crazy.
