For my husband's 40th birthday we planned to see the Tour de France in person (a long time dream of his...). Our daughter would be turning 1 while we were there. So we had a Tour de France theme party for her right before the three of us left for vacation. We called it Berets and Bicycles.
The party was small... just family, close friends and the next door neighbors. First we bought her a King of the Mountain onesie...hence the white with red polka dot decor was born. We took a photo of her on her tricycle (that she still needs to grow into a bit) and that was our pic for the invitation. We then blew up the photo and put it in a frame as part of the party decor. I made the bunting myself.
The food was all French inspired: rosemary almonds, brie & fig bites, blanched green beans with a lemon basil dip, marinated French provincial herb mushrooms, French olives and various French cheeses as well as some macaroons and tarts. I cut fresh herbs from our yard to put into vintage glasses and placed those around. The polka dot cupcake holders I ordered fromTwo Paper Pals
on Etsy. The cycling cake toppers are from Fancy Flours
. The Eiffel Tower wall decal was from etsy as well (WallStickz
And of course Clementine donned the King of the Mountain onesie again days later as we watched the cyclists zoom past us down the Champs Elysees. Magical.
