Our son's first birthday was to be a cheerful and fun event above all. Since he loves the balloons we knew where to start as far as decorations go.
As for the colors, we wanted to evoke true fall-winter Carnival colors like red, orange and brown with splashes of blue which were everywhere; from bunting, food to invitations (which were all DIY). We are a billingual couple so the bunting said "happy birthday" in both languages and the birthday songs from both countries were sung.
The recepies we used were all toddler friendly as all food was vegan, raw and contained no sugar. I've been following a marvellous blog about raw food, Golubka, so there was no question where I would get my inspiration from! I loved the challenge of making these raw deserts, playing with the shapes and flavours. I was thrilled when everyone who tried them loved the result.
All in all the party was a success and I believe little D enjoyed it as well!
Thanks Eva!

So cute! When I was little we always had bilingual birthday parties. It's a fun tradition that has lasted to this day! And what an adorable baby!
I LOVE the invitation! Did you make it or is there somewhere I can find one like it?
thanks everyone!
i am an architect but do graphic design too, mostly wedding-birthday invitations so yes, it was a DIY:)
Do you only do invites for yourself or would you be up for doing one for me :)
i'd be happy to create little something for you! how can i contact you?
AWESOME! my email is akirkpatrick100 [at] gmail [dot] com Thanks again!!
That looks great!!! Can you share what foods you serve at the party please?
Sure!
His B-cake was a chocolate ganache cake:

Next we made these little chocolate truffles:

We attempted to make this cake too, but failed (it didn't become firm no matter how much agar agar we put in) so we served the mixture as a cream in cups:)

We also made these cookies but baked the dough in the oven instead:

And we offered lots of different finger food fruit for kidds to nibble! HTH!
PS All of these recipes were easy to make with minimum culinary skills! You only need a blender:)
