We celebrated my daughter, Emily's, 2nd birthday last summer. She LOVES cats so I decided to make that the theme. When searching for ideas online all I kept coming across was Hello Kitty. Although Hello Kitty is cute, I just wanted to have an old fashioned kitty party. Once I decided on the theme, I started to keep a lookout for any kitty finds.
To my surprise, I found quite a few things in a matter of a few months. The two ceramic cat planters came from a local antique mart as well as the chalkboard kitty that was originally blue. I made the bunting banner with help from a tutorial that I found online. It was a "no sew" banner since I don't sew. With the leftover fabric from the banner, I had a neighbor sew fabric mice with ribbon tails and the kids went on a mouse hunt. I also made kitty cat ears for all of my daughters friends to wear.
I thought it would be fun to play Pin the Tail on the Cat, so I found an image online, and took it to a local print shop to have it enlarged. For party favors we handed out a copy of The Shy Little Kitten (a Golden Book) to everyone. So much easier then filling goodie bags with the same old stuff! For dessert I made cupcakes and kitty cat sugar cookies. We served them with milk, of course! All the kids had a wonderful time including my birthday girl!
Thanks Jennifer!

very sweet! great fun and not overdone. perfect for a 2 year old party.
Hey! I had those kittens when I was little! The ones that are next to her hand where she's eating the cake! This is one of my favorite parties, I wish there were more pictures! I was a cat loving little girl, I would have loved this so much! The cupcake wrappers are genius!
Thanks Everyone for the nice comments.

Jennifer, so nice to see your party here! Everyone, you have to click over to her blog to see more, she did a wonderful job. A lot of what she did served as inspiration for our dog party, and I have a kitty party planned for the future.
