Name: Violet, 2
Location: Central Pennsylvania
Violet's second birthday party fell on Cinco de Mayo weekend last year, so we went with a festive fiesta!
We had sombreros, paper flower headbands, and mustaches for the kids (and adults) to wear. I decorated with tissue garland fringe, confetti, and festive flags and then had the Mister grill some yummy fajitas for all.
Of course, we had Pin the Tail on the Donkey and a pinata. I couldn't resist getting a Cookie Monster pinata because I knew my daughter would love it (Sesame Street is her favorite), so we just dressed him up for the occasion with a mustache and paper flower headband.
I think for Violet it was a perfect day. I'm so happy that she loved her birthday party, and even though she won't remember it, I think she'll know how much fun she had when she looks back at these pictures. Thank you to our family for all of your love and for helping us to celebrate the birth of our little girl!

Shaw's Original Fir...
This is an adorable idea and the colors are lovely but it doesn't really strike me as very cinco de mayo-y. Inspirational idea, nonetheless. Salud!

Was my comment deleted? The ponchos, sombreros, and mustaches are a pretty offensive caricature.
Wow, that's racist.
So sombreros and mustaches make every thing Mexican? That is so offensive.
This is racist. It is obvious you mistakenly think "Cinco de Mayo" means mashed-up Mexican stereotypes.
That you then gave your child a stick to beat.
You need to educate yourself and then publicly apologize.
I agree that this could have been done so much better as Mexico has more to offer than tired stereotypes of sombreos, mustaches, and ponchos. But how do you all rationalize St. Patrick's day?
I agree there is inherent racism in St Patricks day, HouseBee, and I don't participate in it. However she is not currently throwing her daughter a St Patricks Day party. If you like we can discuss every holiday appropriated by American culture, but our focus was on the immediate issue, the racist Cinco De Mayo party she was throwing.
Wow, you people are harsh. This was not a history lesson it was a child's birthday party. Lighten up.
