Name: Daisy, 4
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Four years old is pretty special, and so to celebrate, we put together Daisy's very first actual birthday party.
Almost everything for this party was just pulled out of a closet somewhere, or made by the hands of our loving extended family, late in the night, after coming home from work.
We invited all the kids via their moms on Facebook, but then I felt really lame, so Daisy, my mom, and I put together tickets to send out to the each of her party guests. We made sure to encourage them to dress up since Daisy would be too. Almost all the girls dressed up, but the boys chickened out at the last minute, haha. The tickets were just cut out using the Silhouette, and we printed them off our home printer- nothing fancy.
The decorations were just simple cardstock flags that had been bought at Hobby Lobby. They were glued together like a pad of paper would be, so all we had to do was peel them off the pad, tape them to string, and hang it up- super simple, just like I like it.
The cake was four different colored layers, and I will be the first to admit I made it from a box. I got the idea, as well as the rice crispie treats on a stick, from Pinterest.
Daisy's costume was inspired from Etsy. It was going to be nearly $100 to buy what we saw, so instead we decided to make it ourselves. My mom handmade the top hat headband she wore, and we bought a simple black tee from a secondhand store, and sewed the fringy things on- she wanted to be a ballerina/gypsy/ring leader.
We had face painting for the kids, a pinata, and silly things for them to wear around, like a giant hat, or zebra ears. Mostly it was just them running around sucking in every bit of sugar they could find! But that's how a first real birthday party should be, shouldn't it?

Shaw's Original Fir...
Super adorable!
i love the color scheme! it gives it a vintage feel...great inspiration! thank you!
How did you do the cake topper? Super cute!
Thank guys :). We made the cake topper using dowel rods and left over material from Daisy's costume. We made the hat and balloon from Crayola's Model Magic- that stuff was perfect because it's light as air and set fairly quickly. And we just drew her face on with some fine tip fabric pens we found lying around the house from a previous project. This was our inspiration: http://www.etsy.com/listing/121046019/circus-theme-custom-birthday-cake-topper?ref=usr_faveitems. Hope that helps :).
Absolutely love it! That cake is gorgeous, the whole thing is perfect.

I love this?
Love the cake stand! Is in Vintage?
I love that this is not your typical circus theme. Is more subdued. Really like it. And that topper is wonderful! To think the inspiration one is $80, when it is seemingly easy to make.
Thanks everyone :)
The cake stand I got as a gift! They bought it at Fishy Eddy: http://www.fishseddy.com/browse.cfm/2,185.html
I have always been in love with the circus, so of cpurse I clicked on this! May I just say, a wonderful job. Not only am I in love with your dog, but the decor is really beautiful in an odd way ( it is the circus, after all.)
