Best Kids Parties: Confetti in the Park

My Party: Laelia (Los Angeles, CA)

Jesyka lucked out with beautiful weather for a beautiful party in the park. She shares: The first thing that started me thinking about my little girl's first birthday was Confetti System! I knew I would use the same color palette that I used in Laelia's room, (and similar to the colors in my wedding) because I already had plenty of things in that palette. Also I knew I wanted the theme to be simple and classic (no characters!), and that we wanted to have it at Griffith Park.

I made a mood board that outlined my ideas. From there I decided to use the pinwheel and giant balloons as a motif when I designed her invitations. I also made a Pinterest board that helped me solidify the details, such as the pinwheel cake! The cake is my favorite cake from Porto's Bakery, and I made the pinwheels from paper I bought from paper source, and I wrapped the skewers w/ ribbon (see my tutorial).

I also used pinwheels as favors for the kiddos, and I fancied up the favor bags I bought from Party City with ribbon and name tags. I made the tissue garland myself (based 100% off of confetti system); I bought some rope trim from JoAnns and then cut tissue in 1/2" strips and just twisted and glued!

My friend Andy, whom I met last year at Trader Joes, took photos for us. She is the same Andy who won second place in Ohdeedoh's Small Kids, Big Color contest (Zoey's Handmade Haven)! Also, I had recently made-over an old family high chair for Laelia to sit in and have her first bite of cake! It was such a sweet way to capture the day.

Thanks Jesyka! Readers, say hi and see more of this party Visual Vocabulary.
