Best Kids Parties: Fiesta

My Party

Name: Lucia, 3
Location: Austin, TX

Lucia's birthday is in May so we had a veinticinco de mayo fiesta to celebrate her third birthday!

We wanted to keep things simple since her little sister was just six months old. Our party inspiration was a cute little donkey piñata - it was on our invitations and part of our decor, and we had lots of colorful accents everywhere in the form of papel picado, tissue paper flowers and serapes.

Lucia loves tacos and mustaches, so we put them together and my sister-in-law had a huge taco piñata custom made. My in-laws came and made all of Lucia's favorite foods: empanadas, taco fixings, rice and beans, and I made Mexican chocolate surprise cupcakes filled with dulce de leche and topped with homemade spicy cinnamon frosting.

Her toddler friends played pin the tail on the donkey, hit the piñata and ended the party with cascarones (confetti-filled eggs).

Thanks, Noreen!
