Starting before he was born, Cooper's first year had kind of a yellow and blue "color scheme" from his nursery to his birth announcement to his monthly growth photos, so it only seemed natural to incorporate those colors into his first birthday party. We decided to make the party a "Good Day, Sunshine" theme to incorporate the yellow and blue color scheme and bring happy sunshine to our cool, grey October weather.
I wanted to keep it simple - only family and a few close friends at our home - but still mix in some sweet details. I transformed the nook in our dining room into a party display with white and blue wrapping paper (from Michaels), and my mom and I DIY'd the sunshine circles to hang from the ceiling. The cake was another DIY, as well as the lemon-base flower arrangement. Some lemonade-based punch topped it all off and was a big hit with grown ups and kids alike!
The photo display included favorite snapshots from Cooper's first year. The 4x6s came from Shutterfly (who applied and printed the border for me) and the Instagram prints came from Kanvess.com
(highly recommended! The turn around time was so FAST!) The hardest part of this project was narrowing down my favorite shots.
Cooper had a great first birthday, and as you can see, really enjoyed his cake!
