Best Kids Parties: Goodnight Moon

My Party

Name: Peep
Location: Indianapolis, IN

We threw Peep a first birthday party based on her favorite book, Goodnight Moon. I drew (and colored with crayons) scenes from the book to decorate our living room. We put up a banner of paper socks and mittens that spelled out the book's title.

Peep wore a blue-and-white striped dress (like the main character's blue and white PJs), scored for $1 on ebay. The rest of us wore bunny ears (because the story features bunnies). Peep wouldn't keep her ears on. We celebrated with local cupcakes with bunny flags on them. I made the flags with toothpicks, double stick tape, and a color printer. Easy-peasy.

As a side note, the moon theme has special meaning to me. Peep's uncle (my twin brother) passed away ten years ago. His nickname was Mr. Moon. Every time we see the moon, we're reminded that he's watching over us. He sure saw a good time that day. Peep's bubbly spirit put us all over the moon.

Thanks Julie!
