Here are some ninjas we wouldn't run from. Silvia describes her daughter's third birthday party: The Bundle's favorite movie is The Three Ninjas, together with her cousins, she runs all over the house kicking and screaming "Hei-ya!". So one day, when my husband and I were discussing a theme for her upcoming birthday he suggested a ninja theme.
I was hesitant at first, thinking maybe it was too boyish, but then I thought how fun it would be for all her little friends to be ninjas for the day.I sewed ninja masks for all the children out of my husband's old black t-shirts, which they were able to take home with them. We also filled red and white take out boxes with Japanese candy we found at an Asian market for additional favors.
I made pina colada cupcakes with homemade coconut frosting and printed a little picture of a ninja on red paper which I cut out into circles and glued to kabob sticks. To stick with the Asian/Japanese theme, I hung red and white paper lanterns from the trees above the favor table. For food, we had homemade sushi made by Nana, chicken fried rice and egg rolls made by Daddy and Papa.
The party was held at a local park with enough room for the kids to run around and practice all their ninja moves!
