Oui! Oui! We can practically smell the café au lait and fresh baguettes. Alexis tells us about this uniquely themed party for her daughter: Inspired by my regular trips to the Alameda Antiques Fair, I planned a party for Storey with a Parisian flea market theme.
The invites came together with a little time invested on my home computer (and Paper Source stationery). I decorated with odds and ends found at the fair - anything that could serve as a garland would do well to spruce up the site we'd reserved at Oakland's Lake Temescal. I also incorporated some terrific Etsy finds.
We had Parisian cafe music playing and I even made my husband schlep in my grandmother's vintage highchair. Guests enjoyed made-to-order crepes, a game of cornhole (vintage-inspired fabric bean bags, of course!) and a dip in the lake (or a beverage bin) to cool off. As a favor, we offered a mini succulent for each person to take to take home.
Thanks Alexis!

This is beautiful!
Oh, please. This is the most pretentious one yet.
Whatever troll.
What I love about 1 year old parties is that you can throw whatever theme you want because they do not have any opinions on the matter. May as well do what you like before you succumb to a rainbows and unicorns party in a few years.
(And there's a good chance I'll be submitting a rainbows and unicorns post in about 2 months.)
1 year old parties are more for the adults anyway! Might as well have fun before you have to focus on what the kids want later.
The mini succulents are an sweet gift - I think they'd even be nice for older kid's birthdays, since they're a houseplant that happily takes much abuse and keep on surviving anyway.
It is completely darling. Beautiful job. Ignore the haters :)
Gorgeous!
