Name: Harper (1)
Location: Dallas, Texas
I'm a former blogger for AT so have seen my fair share of inspiration from our wonderful AT community. Poms and partytime was the theme here: DIY tissue poms, mason jars as glasses, homemade cupcakes, bubbles for the kids, and a makeshift photo booth (with props!).
Since most of our friends are sans kiddos, we opted for a casual cupcake hour with the other one-year-old baby friends, followed by a "remember the good ol' days" beer pong and pizza party with the remaining crowd. I'm really glad I planned it this way because Harper was not a happy camper during the party, crying whenever someone wanted to say "hi" to her. So, to have the continuation of the party without her was great because dad and I were able to relax and celebrate surviving our first year!
First time parent mistake on my part: I had scheduled Harper's one year appt (shots galore) two days before the party. The result: she wasn't feeling so hot, oops. Luckily, we had many loving and understanding friends who continued to toast her even after she had gone to bed.
Thanks Micki and happy belated birthday wishes to Harper!

What a great idea! Now that I have my third child, I seriously considered just throwing a dinner party for our friends and hiring a babysitter for the children! This is a great, casual alternative. I can't love the special touches that still celebrated Harper (the photo bunting especially). Lovely, simple party. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on making it through your first year!
Oops! I don't know where the random can't came from. I DO love the special touches. See? This is what happens when you have too many young children!
great party! i'd have to say i also loved seeing glimpses of your home- it looks gorgeous! have you ever done a house tour? would you mind sharing the paint color in the dining room?
redbellybird -- I haven't done a house tour and thank you for the compliment! The paint on the wall is restoration hardware's silver sage.
ha! that figures- i seem to be drawn to rooms painted in silver sage! thanks so much for the reply.
