Best Kids Parties: Red Balloon

My Party

Name: Matilda, 2
Location: Statham, GA

My idea for Matilda's second birthday party was "Red Balloon" because it just seemed so happy. I looked up a lot of ideas online from balloon-themed parties and just made it all red.

I kept the invites simple, but homemade, which I love to do. They were really easy with just a big hole punch and some string.

I have never thrown a party for children (the first party didn't count as there were mostly adults there), so this one was interesting. I tried to keep with food Matilda loved. We had sandwiches (with cherry tomatoes on toothpicks to look like balloons) and fruit. There were cupcakes with toppers to match the invites and I made white chocolate (died red) lolly pops using a mold to also look like red balloons.

There were balloons lining the front walkway and a balloon wreath (thanks to my sister) on our front door that was adorable. I think I may leave it up all summer.
We had a photo area like her first birthday party, this time with a balloon prop and the number 2 sewn on.

My favorite thing about the decorations were the balloons we strung up outside. I really loved them. As it got later, the balloons started heating up and randomly popping. It was hysterical.

As for games, we had sidewalk chalk on the back porch, there was a coloring station where I had made coloring sheets to go with the theme and taped them up as kids finished. We had a pull string pinata that was interesting to make and do. Besides those activities, there was the swing set and sandbox that are always a hit.
It really was so much fun. I loved the colors, it was so fun to plan and Matilda had a great time with her friends.

All of the guests got to leave with some bubbles and a red punch balloon as their party favor. It was a hit.

Thanks, Rachel! See her blog for more details and photos.
