I was 37 weeks pregnant with my second child when Julien's 3rd birthday rolled around in July. He loves the idea of a party (who doesn't?) and superheroes. I wanted to create an easy backyard breakfast birthday bash for him that required minimal effort, minimal expense, but lots of fun for the kids.
I went to Goodwill and picked up 10 colorful toddler tee shirts for $1.99 and cut them into capes and masks come in every color from Party City for $.99. WIth these items, plus two dozen donuts, a fruit salad, and coffee for the parents, we had entertainment for hours.
Watching the glee of the children trying on costumes, picking their favorite superhero stance, and eating cake before noon was memorable. Because it was in our backyard we were very relaxed and able to enjoy the party too.
