Name: Kieran (3)
Location: France
We held a very simple party for Kieran this year. Leading up to his birthday we had all been sick, so there wasn't much time to pull a major event together.
Between my husband and I we DIY'd all the food and decor starting the day before the party. I wanted something simple but colourful, and my main inspiration came from the printable Happy Birthday Banner that I hung above the table. After that I went through my stash of crafting and party supplies to pull everything else together. We literally only spent money on the food items. I relied heavily on ideas I had been saving on Pinterest, and used lots of free printables!
For the eats we had cake, cookies shaped like puzzle pieces, mini cheesecakes, marshmallows and party popcorn. Oh yeah, and a couple of savoury nibbles as well. For the table decor I finally used that bright green tablecloth I've been holding on to, and repurposed some vases to use for the treats along with plain white or green dishes. The guest list was short, mainly family and a few close friends and a fun time was had by all.
Thanks Francine! Readers, see more of Kiernan's beautiful party at Callaloo Soup.

Nomade Express Slee...
Love! And I think there should be no apologies for small parties!! Not every special event needs to be giant or done to the nines!
I recognize that little face, lol. Such a cute party.
@Amy F- totally agree! while I love to throw parties of my own, the main joy comes from planning the party, but when it comes down to the day, I always get super stressed because there is so much to do and all the people, the food, the.....etc. etc. etc. So having a small party just with family and close friends is always a better idea! Besides, children before the age of, lets say..7, dont care at all as long as there are some balloons and cake!
I love small/simple parties too--what we usually do for our kids. Love the colors of this party! Can you please share where the banner is from?
Thanks everyone! I agree that a small simple party was the best way to go this year! For the reader asking about the banner, you can find it here http://scrapbooking.craftgossip.com/freebie-printable-alphabet-bunting/2010/07/30/
