Yes we're going to a party party. Yes we're going to a party party. Traci fills us in on her daughter's fabulous fete: Our daughter Emilia is in love with all things the Beatles (especially her beloved John), so when it came to planning her third birthday party...having a Beatles party was really the only choice.
For decor, we had Beatles posters (including an oversized one that is now in her room), Union Jack umbrellas, a mini Abbey Road zebra crossing, album covers, and (my favorite) hanging lyrics. For food, we had loads of fish and chips and Eton Mess cupcakes.
We had "I heart" John, Paul, George or Ringo buttons for the guests, and the kids were given back stage passes and cardboard guitars to decorate. Guests also went home with a CD of Emilia's favorite Beatles songs. Of course, we had Beatles music playing throughout the party.
While my husband and I wore our favorite Beatles t-shirts, Emilia dressed in her Beatles best: black skinny jeans, white button down shirt and black skinny tie. Oh, and her "I heart John" button, of course.
The party ended with Emilia spontaneously sitting down on the steps (with her cardboard guitar) singing "She Loves You" and "Twist and Shout". She loved it. We loved it. The party was a success.
Thanks Traci! Readers, you really must click over to Traci's blog, 45wall design, to see more photos, least of all Emilia's Beatles get-up.
