April wasn't fooling around with her theme and had vintage red trucks small and big for her son's party. She shares: For my son Jonah's first birthday we decided to do a Vintage Red Truck theme. I knew going in that it would be hard to find exactly what I wanted for party decorations so I started pretty early. The inspiration for the party came from a classic red truck that my father-in-law owns that he affectionately calls "Mater". He brought it down for the party to use as a backdrop for pictures.
I put in a request in the Alchemy section of Etsy (Alchemy is currently disabled) for someone to help make custom party items for the theme. I hooked up with the seller A Boys Life (Amy) and she had the perfect truck image for my invitations and cupcake toppers. I believe she is even selling one similar to what she made for me in her shop.
The colors we decided on were red, white and blue. Since Jonah's birthday is at the end of July I had no problem finding items in those colors in the stores. I made the cupcake stand out of materials found at Hobby Lobby. The truck picture frame came from there as well. I bought large Ball mason jars and tied raffia around the top and put white daisies in them for decoration. We served hamburgers, hotdogs and chips with all the fixings. The cupcakes and cake came from Sam's Club and were a great deal at $14.00 for 30 cupcakes. All in all it was a great day for us to celebrate our little man turning one!
