Best Kids Parties: Watermelon Picnic

My Party

Name: Anna Claire and Mallory (4)
Location: Summerville, SC

We celebrated Anna Claire and Mallory's fourth birthday with a watermelon picnic party perfect for the start of summer! We were blessed with beautiful weather, and lots of family and close friends were there to celebrate with us.So, how does one pull together a watermelon picnic party? I made the girls seersucker jumpers using the Abigail pattern by Bonnie Blue. The watermelon wedge applique is from Planet Applique and is one of the easiest applique' designs I've ever stitched. With their party dresses and hair bows made we had a theme and a color scheme!

I found coordinating watermelon invitations, thank you notes, party favor tags, and "happy birthday" banner from Tiger Lily Invitations on Etsy. I also found the watermelon plates and napkins online at Party by Lewis.

We served a simple spread of crackers and cheese, veggies and dip, and a watermelon fruit basket carved by yours truly! My mom made Anna Claire and Mallory their own birthday cakes decorated like watermelons.

Our party favors were little picnic baskets from A.C Moore. I cut out squares of pink gingham check fabric with pinking shears and tied on the tag with polka-dotted ribbon. Inside was watermelon-shaped and flavored candy all from Party City. Like the tag says, Anna Claire and Mallory had one sweet birthday party, indeed!
