Krishann has a fairy tale to tell us: Once upon a time there was a "Celebration of Wishes" in honor of a little princess getting her wish which was to have the same last name as her daddy…

On August 28, 2011 my husband married the two of us {I came with a bonus!}. Not long after that we began the step-parent adoption process and on August 26, 2011 the adoption was finalized and our daughter Jalayla officially became a Briscoe. She was so excited and spent the next few days telling everyone she could spell her last name. That Monday, August 29, 2011, I made my way to the Social Security office and changed my last name too. For the party we had a princess wish theme because princesses are known for wishing and in fairy tales (and sometimes in real life too) when you wish upon a star you often get your heart's desire.

To decorate we used lots of sparkly stars, princess wands, ribbon, and banners made out of scrapbook paper. We also had a wall of wishes. Prior to the festivities guests shared their childhood and grown up wishes which were placed on stars in the entryway. For the dessert table I made a cupcake wrapper garland. The invites were sent electronically using Paperless Post and for activities the children decorated fairy wands, crowns and decorated their own cupcake which they each got to take home in a cupcake container.

The princesses also got their own tiaras and together the princes and princesses excitedly posed for pictures in the "photo-booth". For lunch we enjoyed various salads including chicken and bow-tie pasta, Italian, Greek, and fruit salads, chicken wings, pulled pork sliders, star shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and to drink pink lemonade and juice boxes. For dessert we ate cupcakes, cake, Oreo pops, marshmallow pops, brownies, gummy frog princes, peach cobbler and sugar cookies.

Jalayla's closest friends and our friends and family we're all there to celebrate this special day in our lives. We wanted to be surrounded by people who have supported and continue to support us in our journey as a family. We were so blessed to have family and friends help with the planning, decorations, activities, food preparation and even the cleaning. That day there was such an outpouring of love for our daughter. We felt and still feel so grateful and so blessed. That night after we said our prayers and good nights she smiled at me and said "this was the best party and best day ever".

And they lived happily ever after (most of the ). The end.

Congratulations to you all! Thanks Krishann!
