I designed a Woodland Picnic birthday for my three year old Scarlett's Fall birthday because she loves bears and owls and I loved the idea of a casual gathering with all the food prepped in advance so I could enjoy it!
The food was delicious but the packaging was the real treat! I had the best time wrapping, tying and boxing the sandwiches, salads, and goodies for our guests to pack in their individual picnic baskets.
I used the traditional picnic pattern, red and white gingham, as a strong visual element but added to it a mahogany faux bois, acorns and colorful dot flowers (that decorated the German music boxes and cuckoo clocks of my childhood). I used natural wood serving trays and bowls and bamboo forks for additional woodsy interest. And I sewed coordinating outfits for the birthday girl and her sister to wear with red and white gingham and woodland friend printed fabrics.
Party favors for our young guests were glassine bags of vintage candy in the party colors and faux bois mini clipboards with twig colored pencils. I also designed the invitation with inner r.s.v.p. envelope and all the printables.
Thanks Anneliese! Readers, you can see much more of Scarlett's party on Aesthetic Nest. Also, Anneliese is selling the printables she used in her Etsy shop.
