How about a little sunshine on a winter day. Holly shares her daughter's first birthday party: As I started planning the party, as a mother of two baby girls, I knew one thing was for sure, NO PINK! I wanted to do something a little different and get away from the pink for awhile. I won't lie, I tossed around SEVERAL party themes...before I finally came to a decision.
Our sweet little Alexa has always been a little firecracker, unpredictable to say the least. However, when she hears us call her our 'little sunshine' or hears us sing 'you are my sunshine', the reaction is always the same, her sweet little face lights up, each and every time. Her older sister even calls her...Little Miss Sunshine. Finally, I realize that the decision should have been easy all along, a "You are my Sunshine" theme, would be perfect.
When planning a party, I always think to myself, start with what you have! I had an IKEA Ung Drill frame, that needed to be put to use...and with that, I knew I wanted the theme to be simple & elegant. Secondly, I tell myself--to buy what you can reuse. I tried to stick to smart purchases that I knew I could use down the road. For example, the tissue poms in gray and white will be used for the girls room following the party, same with the gray frame, etc. From there, everything began falling together.
We kept our party simple & small for our family & "Little Miss Sunshine". Thanks for letting me share our simple yet chic party with you!
