It's January here at Apartment Therapy, which means we've been focusing on helping you revamp your bedroom - the most important room in your home. This is a great month (February too) to declutter and make any upgrades because A. it's cold outside and B. sheets and bedding are on huge sale right now across the country, so the SUPER expensive stuff, Italian sheets, etc, are now within reach. This list will be for strictly "modern" style bedding. Tomorrow, I'll do a roundup of traditional sources.

>> Calvin Klein - Had to add Calvin this year. He's not new, but, boy, is he lovely modern.
---

>> Sanford Burrows - Founded by Jill Sanford Burrows, this is a cool new source combining high quality Italian-made bedding and a modern, geometric approach.
---

>> Twinkle Living - A new discover, Wenlen Chia's fashion sensibility crosses over into bedding with these bold and whimsical patterns. Bedding is available in 11 patterns and twelve color selections ranging in price from $50 for a pair of pillowcases to $300 for a duvet cover.
---

>> Inhabit Living - Inhabit's bedding is splashier than most with a touch of a retro, mid-c modern look.
---

>> Fold Bedding @ Wallter - They don't do sheets, but I've always liked their heavy wool bedspreads and pillows.
---

>> Missoni Bedding - is a new find and, in one of the most colorful collections of all
---

>> Marimekko Collection at Crate & Barrel
---

>> Dwell Studio - Always modern and playful, they've been out front with bold graphics longer than anyone.
---

>> Amenity Home - Subtle and sunny. Organic and from LA.
---
>> Unison - Inspired by Marimekko in Scandinavia, these Chicago natives have broadened their line beyond bedding in the past two years.
---

>> Jiti Bedding - A newcomer to the field and very exciting. World colors with a modern sensibility.
---
>> Jonathan Adler - Hotel gone over the top. Adler's style should make you smile.
---
>> Eileen Fisher Linen - Luxurious fabrics for organic modern.
---
>> Matteo - The most luxurious (and spartan) we know.
---
>> Area Home - Classic subtle colors and shapes with rich fabrics.

Wow....I am in love with that dark grey Matteo duvet with the crochet on top....how beautiful!

I lust after Matteo bedding... there are so many I like, I don't know which to get first...
I would also add libeco home to your list; they have beautiful linen bedding.
I agree that Matteo is gorgeous. Can affordability and beauty ever meet? I suppose not today.
Any thoughts on what are the absolute softest?
thread counts are like pixels in digital cameras: we HAVE gone mad.... maybe?
I'm glad everyone shares my lust over Matteo's crochet blanket and duvet cover. I've been searching for something similar but not pricey.. Anyone have any suggestions??
Calvin Klein makes an organic bed! Awesome - always so clean and modern - thanks for adding them to the list - so often overlooked!!! :o)
Great post! I never could afford Matteo until ABC Home had their sale last week. 40-50% off and I now can say Matteo is splendid indeed in my home.
I've loved Calvin Klein for a long time. I'm coveting the "bamboo flowers" duvet cover used in the Sex & the City series, oddly enough (check out Carrie Bradshaw's bedding), but I love the one featured here.
Twinkle Living looks seriously cool (although I think I'd tire of it quickly) and I really really love the Fold Bedding. Love the details.
Matteo yes! Then take it one step beyond and check out Society Limonta ... I shall never leave bed again!

I am now green with envy!!

I was trying to remember the name -- yes, of course, Society Limonta! Where does one find it?
I had no idea there were so many Matteo lovers out there. For pretty much all of 2008, the Strouds discount linen store near me had a Matteo pop up store (Beverly and Crescent Heights in LA). Everything was highly discounted (50-75% off). Unfortunately, the pop up store closed at the beginning of 2009. I was afraid that perhaps Matteo had shut down as well so its good to see they are still around and kicking.
Oh my goodness, the Matteo is lovely! Now I need to hunt down those sales.....
I love that Fold Bedding @ Wallter - so sculptural and clean.
Ohhh the Fold Bedding with those graceful yet bold curves is just gorgeous and have long been a fan of Amenity's colors, patterns and eco-friendliness of their designs and that you can now buy their fabric by the yard! http://www.urbansherp.com/amenitys-modern-organic-fabric-by-the-yard
West Elm is another great option for modern organic bedding that won't break the bank. Love the pintuck: http://www.urbansherp.com/west-elms-organic-bedding
this is the link to the Society Limonta website, where their stores are listed: www.societylimonta.com and I also know that they are sold at Bloom in the Hamptons.
Another great brand is Bandit Queen, I bought some of the sheets in the Mumbai shop recently and I just love them. The best thing is that they are now also sold at Le Bon Marché, Paris.

I love the CK Bamboo Flowers...had them for a few years but got oh so tired of ironing them as they come out of the permanent press cycle as a wrinkled mess.
What I really want to know is where do those platform beds in the CK ads come from? I cannot find them on any CK website.
