There's something warm and simply fulfilling about having a couple Moleskine notebooks laid out on an office table. A plethora of gadgets (in our case, a number of iPads from our collective Apple-lovin' officemates) doesn't really get across that same cozy feeling. What better way than to get the best of both worlds by sprucing it up with one of our favorite Moleskine-inspired cases to integrate into your life?
Although we're focusing on the Apple iPad 2 in this round, there are plenty of rumors floating around the Internet that a possible iPad 3 may be released in the coming months. And you plan to upgrade to Apple's 3rd iteration of the tablet, we suggest taking note of any of these designs and bookmarking to check after the impending release of the iPad 3.
Now, have a look at these carefully crafted beauties:
1) Pad and Quill iPad2 Cases ($49.95-$69.99): Known for their signature ribbon detail, these sturdy iPad cases really convey that signature leather Moleskine look, while still offering a number of original cover styles to choose from.
2) DODOCASE for iPad2 ($59.95): A slick case handcrafted in San Francisco. We've tried these ourselves and love how the iPad easily snaps into place without the need of bands.
3) Moleskine Folio for iPad2 ($89.95): After seeing so many copycats in the marketplace, Moleskine decided to launch their very own iPad cover. Instead of housing just the iPad alone, the tablet is housed on the left and a notepad accompanies it on the right. It's clever, but we're not sure it's enough to warrant the premium price.

As decor or for use? On second thought, if I have to ask...
I've had the Dodocase since November, and it's a wonderful case. I love that it looks like a book when closed. I've recommended it to a few coworkers and they all enjoy theirs as well.
(Best birthday gift ever, thanks T!)
The Moleskine Folio is for the iPad ONLY. Nothing from Moleskine will work with the iPad 2 (or the iPhone 4 or 4s either.) A shame, really.
I also have the Dodocase (holding it right now as I type on my iPad 2)and I don't love it. It is very wonderful looking and I get many complements on it. However I don't like how it functions. I have had mine since Christmas but it already looks very warn. I try to be very careful with it but I don't think it will hold up for long. The elastic closure band is very stretched out and the edges are worn The inside sticker has curled and I am terrified to let me kids touch it. Now my husband has some ugly black "leather" cover that resembles a portfolio on his ipad2. That thing is a work horse. Anyway, cute case but not that sturdy. Just my experience.
I should add that mine is the Dodocase made for J Crew. It looks the same as the one on this link but with a j crew like print but may be different. Plus it was about $30 more. But really cute.
I heart my Pad & Quill case! It's stronger than the Dodocase (made from birch rather than bamboo) and is covered with leather. It feels less flimsy, too. I got it on sale for $10 off, which made it even better.
I love how Dodocase is made in house. Gives it that personal touch where you know it was made with care, precision and affection for the product.
I got a RooKCasE on Etsy, and have also been very unimpressed. It was ok for about six months. Then my iPad started falling out of it. What's the point of a cover if it doesn't protect your electronics?
I liked that it looked like a book, and I could carry my iPad discretely. Something that looks like a iPad is more likely to get stolen than something that looks like a book.
i considered most of these cases, but sadly most of them just look like they would be pretty uncomfortable to actually hold and use. the case i have allows me to fold the cover over and i hold it one handed. With these being wood I can see my hand getting tired even faster.
Also, kind of a "really" on this article. Couldn't we just use the search function and find almost 5 different almost identical articles?
i prefer the bookbook by twelvesouth. It feels and looks like an antique.
You are missing the best case out there... Portenzo! So much more fun as you can customize almost every aspect of the case (material, external color, internal color, strap, etc.) Plus its much lighter and less bulky than DoDoCase. Highly recommend!
Avoid the DODOcase. After hearing wonderful things about the DODOcase, we got one for my wife's iPad. We were shocked at the shoddy workmanship: the spine was glued incorrectly and was coming apart. The cover was warped and didn't close correctly. Even worse was their abysmal customer "service." After long emails back and forth, they agreed to take it back. After paying the return postage, we're still waiting for a refund after six months.
