My inbox has been flooded with PR pitches about the "perfect" Mother's Day gift. A few years ago I came up with my own Mother's Day Fantasy Wishlist and flowers, jewelry and a World's Best Mom mug weren't on it. (Basically, I wanted to be left alone for the day!).
So I'm wondering what other moms really want for Mother's Day. Take our survey and let's see:

Shaw's Original Fir...
I know I really just want some quality time with my family...a day to chat and see how they have grown!
I am going on a girlfriend getaway Thursday night, my husband is taking the kids camping Friday night, and my husband and I are going on a date Saturday night. It's going to be a great weekend! I LOVE my family, but I get lots and lots and lots of time to spend with them (well, with the kids, and my husband is good about making time for outings and activities).
What I don't get is time by myself, time with my husband without our kids, and time with my girlfriends without our kids. I'm going to get all 3 this weekend!
Sunday is Mother's Day PLUS our anniversary, and we will go to church and have a nice lunch.
A gift card for a massage and starbucks after! :)
I'd love to come home from brunch to a spotless house!
I would either like to have someone get me a cleaning service for 1 or 2 deep cleanings! OR...since now the household budget has decreased in the area of "personal spending", a pair of jeans that I've been wanting for a while would be seriously sooooo appreciated!
I want lunch at a favorite restaurant, some time shopping and finding something fun, and then some craft time with my son. Oh, and a nap!
i want a new spring blanket for our bed, a grumble-free photoshoot with the family, and lots of general pampering and extra attention.
I asked for a facial at my favorite spa.
I'd like to take a train in the morning, go visit my best friend in Paris (I live an hour away), go shopping like crazy with her ! We'd lunch in the Japanese restaurant I loved so much while I lived there, then go to Les Galeries Lafayette et Printemps Hausmann, then the BHV, snack at Ladurée where I'd feast on macaroons and green tea. We'd then go the my favorite spa in the south-west of Paris and spend the evening drinking hot moroccan tea and talking until our throats are sore. Oh, and we'd finish the night at a great jazz bar I know. I'd come home the next morning, preferably not to an Armageddon house, but then again, let's keep it realistic.
In reality, I think I'll get a kiss from my son and a flower from my husband. And the thing is, I'll be sincerely happy to hug them too.
This year I'm hoping to have a baby who's a few days old so that I don't end up having to be induced - I was due the 26th and nothin' yet. So if he could come in the next few, that'd be sweet.
In the future, I'm thinking massage.
A Maid!!!
One of the Dinosaur Comics whiteboards.
last year I got a lamp that I had been coveting (and I made sure to buy myself a pair of earrings) - my baby was only a few days old. This year I asked for a package of yoga classes (then I'll get weekly time to myself to unwind!) and I also bought myself 8 weeks of stroller fit. I'm tempted to get myself a necklace too - this parenting is HARD work!
I definitely do not want STUFF. I've said I'd like to sleep in, and then we'll have a bagels and fruit salad spread for lunch (because even DH/child can do that without my help). I would love to get out for a run in the morning without anyone clinging to my legs.
I want to go out geocaching with my family - building those event memories together. Nothing fancy and certainly not stuff that we don't need!
I want all of the rooms in my home clean at one time . . .
I'd like about an hour to read the Sunday newspaper and drink hot tea without any interruptions. That was one of my favorite things to do on the weekend and I haven't done that uninterrupted in about 14 months. I won't be doing it this year either since husband will be out of town on a business trip. :/
I think husband is getting me a Kindle or Nook (he's mumbled about both so I'm not certain). I bought myself a necklace since husband has to be out of town on a business trip on Mother's Day. :)
When we our first two kids were quite young (we now have four), I begged my husband to drop me of to The World's Biggest Bookstore in Toronto for 3 hours all by myself. I walked through the aisles, feeling like a rebel and relished the absolute peace and serenity I craved so much. To this day, it is one of the best Mother's Day presents I ever received.
A foot massage and a pat on the back!
Oh, and a clean living room carpet.
I'm a single mother of a tiny infant, so all the things on the list are unrealistic. I've vowed to exercise with the baby every day for the two weeks surrounding mother's day. And, I'd really like to get myself some beautiful baby alpaca yarn to knit myself a sweater.
I told my eight-month old that I would love it if he would FINALLY sleep through the night... just one night! Haha... not sure if he will cooperate, but it never hurts to ask :P
Oh Tara, I remember my first mother's day!! My son was 11 months old, and had yet to sleep through the entire night. ALL I asked for that year was one night of sleep. My husband granted my request, and it was the best day/night EVER.
I would love to have a day to myself. But I will also say that even though I hate the holiday (I have worked too many of them to enjoy it, I honestly think its a crock) but the best gifts I have been given is a locket with my newborn daughter's initials on it, a dishwasher, and a flower pot that my daughter made for me in preschool. I cried when I was given the locket and flower pot and was so happy for the dishwasher.
Loora has described by dream day to a "T".
(Although I'd add that in my dreams, I am a size 4, and have the $$s to buy and look amazing in anything and everything my heart desires. Totally fantasy of course...)
Loora's wants are too ridiculous for me to even waste my time to comment on. ugh. None of that has to do with your family!
I'm getting a pizza, renting a movie and having the night off of baby duty!
