We spent some time Sunday speaking to Elena Kowalski (above), designer for Mesa. A recent graduate of Pratt, Elena is helping to totally reinvent...

...the home goods line from Mesa. In addition to showing pieces with a modern look and feel (lots of wood with white, a big tabletop trend from the show), Elena is working with sustainable materials, such as bamboo, and is reducing packaging by designing for flat pack. Many of her pieces for Mesa disassemble, which reduces both the amount of packaging needed and the impact of shipping.

Modular Wine Rack - ships flat pack and can be configured to accommodate different amounts of wine bottles at different times.

The base disassembles into the pieces you see on the right, good for both shipping and then for storage.

One of our favorite items from Mesa: really nice looking sturdy Bamboo storage cubes with blackboard bottoms. You can write what you've stored inside on the blackboard bit.

A nice example of Mesa's glass pieces - a very decorative but modern footed cake plate.

There is not much information online for this new line, but contact info can be found on their site, which is still under construction: Mesa

Thanks Elena!
