One of the big trends that we're seeing in the tabletop/serving area of the Home and Housewares show is the mix of natural materials with really bold, very UN-natural colors and finishes. A prime example of this trend is this line of serving bowls from...

...Mango Leaf. Part of the Coilware collection, they are made from bamboo and then just the outside of the bowl is finished with these rich, bright, glittery (!) lacquers.

Hard to capture with the funky lighting of the trade show floor, the lacquer is a very rich look, with lots of reflection and depth. The contrast to the very natural, very eco-looking bamboo interior makes for an interesting juxtaposition of materials. They are reminiscent of the old shiny, colorful aluminum serveware and glasses that you run across from time to time at thrift stores and flea markets.
