Last week, we took a look back at a few of the Midwest entries that were the reader's favorites from 2007. Today, we roundup the 2006 "Best of the Midwest". We're hoping that they will inspire some great entries this year (the entry form is up, right here!). Jump below to revisit four of the entries that made it to the final round in the second annual contest, two whole years ago (time flies!):
Entry #2 - Marilyn and Peter's Home Studio Harmony. This entry went on to WIN the entire contest - here is the advice from their original entry: Know yourself (or at least, try and figure it out). Use colors that reflect who you are and what your lifestyle is about. The more you know, the more focused your color choices will be.
Entry #20 - Luke's Rich and Modern Bath. Some advice from Luke: Test the color with the lighting you are going to use. That makes a big difference.
Entry #8 - Tricia's Dressed-Up Palette. Tricia says: Don't be afraid to mix colors. All four walls don't have to be the same color. Woods don't have to match (put a light birch with a dark walnut). It's easier to notice the individual pieces when the colors complement rather than blend.
Entry #19 - Brooke's Brave Blast of Brightness. Brooke shares her color theory: Always have AT LEAST three colors in your theme. One main color, one variation of the main color, and a striking complement here & there.
For Fall Colors 2008, entries are now being accepted. The entry form is here, with all the details - maybe 2008 is the year your place is crowned the most beautiful, colorful home in the world!
