Q: My 2.5 year old is stalling on potty training, we have a family seat (similar to the Lupi Lu) on the adult toilet but his little legs are dangling and he can’t get up himself. I’d like to find a potty step that is stable, tall and won’t clutter our one cramped bathroom. I’ve seen the Looster Booster (pictured) but to get it shipped here brings it to $90! So I’d like to find something more affordable.

Editor: We have a teeny tiny bathroom and my son uses the Easy-Fold Step Stool ($15). It may not be as sturdy as you want, but it has the huge advantage (to us) of folding up which my son can do himself. Readers, what do you use?

We had great luck with step stools from Ikea -- they have rubberized edges for stability -- can't remember the name exactly but it was white with blue edging -- they sold them in stacks and stacks in various places -- I bought about 4 and use them everywhere -- garden, sandbox, bathroom. I also have a taller wood step stool for our sink downstairs that we got at Target. It also has a lid on the top step for storing stuff! That one was about $30.
I second Ikea! They're ridiculously cheap and we used one at the daycare I worked at. No one had a problem getting up on it at all. Storage might be tricky, though. You could always throw it on its side under your sink if you have room.
target wooden stool-- handles in the side, n(not the two step up kind) about $15. my girl carries it from the bathroom where she uses it to get in the tub, sit on the potty, wash her hands in the sink to the kitchen so she can help/ watch. (sorry, can't find a link online, but they're ususally in the store)
We got the looster after MANY other stools either were too tall or too awkward and I am SO GLAD we did! Best stool out there! She is able to pull her pants off once she's up there which makes getting up and down from the stool safer and gives her confidence to do it BY HERSELF!
we bought a regular step stool set from babies r us, and it worked perfectly. The stools have a curve so they hug pretty close to the toilet, and they have non-skid rubber on the top and on the feet. And now that our kid is tall enough to get up without it, it makes a great kitchen assistant/tooth brushing stool. I think the two pack was less than $10.
we actualy bought a training potty chair. that converted into a step stool. its small (slightly larger than a square foot) and strong. my son is 3.5 yrs and weighs 42lbs. he is a solid kid and it holds up fine. that was about 20 bucks. i realized it would be silly to train on the little chair just to turn around and train on the potty so the stool was never used for a potty.
How about purchasing via Amazon?? Free super-saver shipping...

Thanks everyone!
Christina, I wish I could purchase it from Amazon as they have excellent international rates, but they won't ship the Little Looster here (Australia)
@jocelyn, I wondered if that would be a problem. Thought about it after my comment. Darn!!
Would any of these work for you?

http://www.babyvillage.com.au/step_stools/childcare_step_stool - I've seen these in my friends bathrooms with older toddlers (ours is still using a bjorn potty), may not be tall enough for you kids legs though?

We bought one 2 years ago from LaffyDaffy, an etsy shop. I liked it so much that I just bought a 2nd one. They design sturdy wooden steppers and can personalize them also. Only thing is, it depends on the surface where you will use it. Ours works well on most tile and linoleum, but in our new bathroom, it is more slippery.
How exciting that my question was in a round up! I thought I should update that in the end i found a lovely tall animal step from Kmart for $5. It is about the height of 2 of the Ikea steps so tall enough for his feet to be flat and comes in tiger, monkey, butterfly and frog if I remember correctly.
