Few things are as delightful as sliding into clean, soft sheets and, as focus shifts to the bedroom here on AT, we thought this bedding basic was a great place to start. We first discovered Pure Beech modal sheets over 6 years ago while looking for simple, affordable bedding at Bed, Bath & Beyond — little did we know we would fall in love, and with a eco-friendly material, too! Not only are they amazing to sleep on, these sheets are produced in accordance with ecological standards and sustainability, and contain no pesticides or toxic substances...

Exclusive to Bed, Bath & Beyond, Pure Beech sheets are sustainably derived from the Beechwood tree in Europe and come in two texture variations. The 100% modal version is the more expensive — $69.99 for a full size set — and feels supple and silk-like without sacrificing any softness or warmth. If your preference is for a more formal looking sheet with a slight sheen then the Sateen sheets are for you. There is also a Jersey Knit — $49.99 for a full size set — which is a 70% modal / 30% cotton blend. While this sheet is delightfully soft, warm and a bit stretchy, the majority modal keeps it super light and much more refined than cheaper T-shirt style sheets.
We own three sets of Pure Beech sheets — two Jersey Knit and one Sateen — and love rotating between the textures. The Jersey Knit is light, fun and incredibly snuggly while the Sateen's lack of stretch makes it a bit more serious though no less soft. Our only warning is don't put the sheets in the dryer on high heat (the cotton setting) because we have had a seam come undone on a pillowcase. This is stated on the packaging (which we didn't read until after washing) and should be followed. Simply wash on regular and dry on medium and you should be all set!

i found that the jersey knit sheets pilled after a few washings. maybe the sateen are better.
I have a set and they are so soft!
The top sheet easily bunches up though.
I had the same problem as fardaesm for the jersey and noticed after a year there were little holes in sheets. I used these in the spare bedroom so they weren't getting washed as often as my normal sheets so I dont know how long they would last as everyday sheets.
I've had these for years and recommend them to everyone. The colors stay very true over time too, I've had very little fading.
They're soft, but I don't like the way they bunch. I like the cool smoothness of 100% cotton!
I have the sateen version and love them. I've had no issues with them pilling but the top sheet is difficult to keep in place as someone else mentioned.
The jersey ones pill pretty badly. I loved them at the store but hated them within weeks. Now I'm tempted to try the sateens. I know I really want linen sheets but $$...
I've been using these sheets for years -- I LOVE them! My sets did start to pill, so I decided to put them on inside out every once in a while and the pilling seemed to stop/soften up. I had a set for my college dorm xl twin too; I added some batting and made into a small blanket when I moved out!
I am OBSESSED with these sheets!!!!
I have been using them for about 7 years - have several different colors and have turned almost everyone I know onto them. I have even sewn 2 flat sheets together to make a duvet cover so I can be completely wrapped in the softness! They get softer and softer everytime you wash them - a characteristic of beechwood fibers - and the colors stay beautiful.

LUV!!!
I have purchased two sheets of the "modal sateen sheets" and love using them, but they pill and seem to flake off lint. What causes this and what can be done to prevent it? I have little balls of fuzz on my carpet.
I have the coral color and I'm about to buy another set in blue! I can't even explain how much I love these sheets, simply amazing.
I also adore these sheets! However, the set I bought in 2004 is definitely far superior in quality and feel than the set I bought in 2007. I replaced the sheets I bought in 2004 because I wanted a new color. The 2007 set is now completely threadbare in many places and I must replace it. Even though they wore out faster, I'm not complaining about the value.. these are amazing sheets for $70! !
We cannot find any sheets that compare to these in regards to softness and comfort. We love them. However, we only had them two years and we had a hole in them. Never had a problem with pilling, only wash them by themselves on delicate. BUT...our big problem was with the shedding these sheets seem to do...we had the chocolate brown and a blue comforter and we have brown fuzz everywhere! It is the only complaint I have...how can they still be shedding after two years??? But we will buy another set, cause our cotton ones now are NOT cutting it!
These are super soft but totally annoying for two reasons!
1) They bunch up everywhere and don't stay smooth and cool like cotton sheets
2) They attract lint!
I went and bought some Calvin Klein sheets after this experience.
The jersey sheets are like butter! And, in that fall transition to winter, it's a nice transition from the cold woven cotten sheets of summer. I have a couple of sets of the 100% modals and just went shopping for a new set (craving a new color) and discovered the set available in my store is the 70/30 modal/cotton mix. Will have to see if I'm disappointed. The hand is a bit firmer compared to the super soft 100% modal. One tip I remember from caring for flannel sheets - don't use fabric softener. It's very purpose is to break down fibers which causes the pilling.
I had the same problem with the pilling and unexplained pin holes on the jersey sheets. I wrote to the company about them and BB&B allowed me to return them for store credit even though they were a year old.
