Having used this kettle for the past two days, we have to admit it to our kettle hall of fame. The Windsor quick boil teakettle is a British design with a simple, clean, metal body and wood handle, which uses the odd-looking raised coil ridge underneath to direct heat to the water more quickly. The body is chrome over copper with a nickel interior lining, and it holds two quarts, which is a lot.
It works. They say "A watched pot doesn't boil"? You can watch this one, and it will boil. Available for mucho dolares (@ $90) at not too many places: Williams-Sonoma, Sur La Table.

Not sure this is the same brand or size, but Lehmans.com has a variety of coil-base teapots, most for ~$40. Sure look like they're in the same family, at least..
Haven't tried this one, but my family had to start avoiding stovetop kettles in general. We used to buy Chantal kettles, which are enamelled in various colors and have a pleasant-sounding harmonica whistle. You can find them in offprice retailers for around $40-50, as opposed to the $100 they go for at W-S.
Did you know that the enamel will fuse to a heated electric coil burner, if left there long enough? Yeaaaahhhh. We're kind of absentminded around here. *pained smile*
As a result, it's all electric kettles that turn themselves off, in Casa de Miranda. They do suck up counter space, though, and they aren't always the most... sightly. We tuck ours in next to the microwave. They're a lot cheaper than Chantal or Le Creuset or Windsor and they always last longer than the embarrassingly brief amount of time it's taken us to ruin the pricey ones.

Not only do the coils work incredibly well but the tight seal from the top I'm sure has something to do with it too.
I've had so many crummy and decretive tea kettles over the years this one really takes the cake or crumpets or what have you.
The water boils so fast! Really!
We use it all the time.
We leave ours out on the stove so it picks up a lot of our cooking grease quickly (and we hardly ever fry) so it needs some scrubbing (non abrasive please!).
If your kettle is frustrating you and you live for your tea... this is a gem!
