Last week Janel featured a top ten list of wine openers, and this is our top pick to add to the list. The Sieger 600 (sounds high tech, no?) is our favorite of all time. We picked up this German designed item at a local thrift store, and love it because it's comfortable to use AND never, ever fails. Maybe we've gotten better at opening wine, or maybe it's the Sieger 600, but either way, the design and function are ingenious.
The spring-loaded corkscrew does the work. All you do (we've read this is an ideal corkscrew for those with arthritis) is continuously turn clockwise. You don't have to worry about stopping and pulling (or breaking the cork), because the strong spring does it for you, without breaking the cork, of course.
