Best Products: Bamboo Bath Mat

We struggled with a fluffy white bathmat for a year. No matter how many times we washed it, it seemed to get dirty again after two showers. Despite its spa-like look, it felt grungy underfoot. Finally, we got rid of it and replaced it with CB2's bamboo bath mat. The price was right and we've been happy ever since...

At just $19.95, the bamboo bath mat is a good deal. To clean it, we wipe it down. We've had it for a year now and it doesn't feel grungy (bamboo is naturally antibacterial). We thought the open weave might cause the floor underneath to get a little gross, but we've surprisingly never had an issue. Since we got our bamboo bath mat, we've also thought it would make a good spot for shoes in a landing strip.

Does anyone else have the bamboo bath mat? What's your review?

Hopefully, I too will have one soon, very soon. Because if I do, that means that my bathroom will be finished! And I will be very very happy.

Bamboo will be one of the two dominating elements of my master bath in the form of a tub apron, vanity wall and floor mat, furniture, etc. The other element is stone in the form of pebble tile and a thick limestone vanity.

I have two of these mats in the bathroom and my only complaint is that I wish they came in "runner" lengths. My floor is covered with recycled rubber tiles and the "wood blocks" provide a nice texture alternative.

I've had white looped cotton bathmats for years - never a problem - I just toss them in the washer when I do my weekly load of white towels.

I have had the Crate & Barrel wood bathmat (not sure if it's bamboo) for a year and love it. It feels so spa-like to me :)

Are they comfy to stand on in bare feet?

Er---I can't get on board with a bamboo bath mat. I buy the kind of bath mats used in hotel bathroom. They last forever and are easy to launder, with no backing to fall apart.

I've had my eyes on the CB2 bamboo mat for months now--it's great to read a good review. Maybe this will be the incentive to actually buy one.

I've got one, and I love it. Feels nice underfoot and is a snap to keep clean.

cool..I'll have to check it out. I just saw one this week at Walmart and wondered why you would have a wood rug.

It's great. Think I may move to the crate and barrel wood one, though, as it matches the darker wood tones in my bath better. Never going back to a cloth mat.

I hated this mat! It slipped around, not good grip on tile and water always pooled underneath and mold grew on it about 2 weeks after I bought it.

FYI - you can get these in Chinatown for much cheaper - and they come in black, natural, medium stain and sometimes colors, and also in a million sizes, from placemat size to ones that go under your mattress or on top of it to really cool down the bed in summer. You'll really appreciate the profit margin of CB when you see these.

from C & B which is a similar style but made from recycled tropical hardwood. For some reason I though it was made from coconut shells? Must have been something different.

I got a wonderful fluffy bamboo bathmat on clearance from Target a couple of years ago. It's a nice neutral color (light brown?) and it's very durable. Target might still be selling them? It is the best thing ever. So comfortable on my barking dogs and really easy to clean up -- I live in a 65-year-old building and my bathroom is not ventilated; however, this mat never gets mildewy or gross. And it really pulls the entire room together!
