A simple hardware swap-out can have huge impact on the appearance of cabinetry. We really like the AG Series Pulls from Sugatsune. The varied sizes of this hardware make it useable on drawers, cabinets, cubbies, or even closet doors...
The minimal, clean line of this hardware will lend a modern look to your millwork. It will take a little care to install, as the flange is screwed in flush with the surface of the door. So a small niche must be cut out of the door on which this is installed.
Sugatsune, the Japanese hardware manufacturer, is a wonderful source for no-nonsense, functional hardware of all types.

I bought a couple for the glass doors on my PAX wardrobe - they are very small and chintzy.
Wish I'd gone w/ some that were larger and easier to grip...
I have very similar looking ones from ikea that are more budget friendly for the same look.
Lovely, but I priced these pulls about five years ago (for a project, not for me!) and I was apalled by how expensive they were, including the labor to rout out the wood to accept the hardware. They got VE'd right out of the project.
I agree, Emily. Way too much work and way too expensive. Who wants to invest that kind of cash and labor into an apartment? And why bother when there're so many easier and less expensive options? Outwater.com, vandykes.com, coolknobsandpulls.com -- between those three, you're bound to find something you love at a decent price. I just replaced all the cabinet knobs in my kitchen with vintage-look molded glass ones in Depression Green from Van Dyke's. They look fantastic, and they were about three bucks each.

I prefer handles/pulls that can be swapped out for another style in the future. Once you install these, you're stuck with them.
The thing about sugatsune is that they do have some very nice pieces and if detail and the *exact* quality of a thing are important to you you may find that they have the thing. Not cheap but frankly, neither am I :0)
