Whether used for dining, home accents or occasional purposes, the side chair is a heavily sought-after decorating necessity. This past year we saw a rising trend in sleek, ultra modern, minimal designs that make use of bended metals and wood finishes. Check out some of our favorites—both new designs as well as updated classics, and give us your recommendation after the jump. We've been on the edge of our seats all year in anticipation of this list!

Just doesn't look like anybody can improve on already existing classics, does it? The two best "lookers" are the ones that have been around for a while--the Prouve chair and the Hansen chair (which, predictably, isn't comfortable).
On the other hand, for the money, and in an alternate finish (white stained oak), that IKEA chair would be a score for looks!
I love classic design and it's so sad that these days we don't get any really good and timeless design - they are mostly copycats! I have the trattoria sedia but i don't use it much as i feel like the legs are not strong enough. I stumbled upon this classic chairs and they are really nice. The have cool colors and I had a hard time deciding which color to go to and what I did is I mixed 6 different colors match these 6 dining chairs with an italian glass table and it works. my dining area is the best. Here's the website if you want to check it out - http://www.modernlightingdecor.com/Seccio.html. I so love the seccio chair with a natural wood base - it's classic and timeless!
