I've been obsessed with storage beds for about as long as I've had a bedroom. They are the perfect marriage of form and function. And, of course, they are an ideal small space solution. We've added a couple of new models to the annual roundup of best storage beds this year. See them all after the jump...

Thompson Full Storage Bed with 6 Drawers from Urban Green Available as Twin, Full, Queen and King with 6 or 12 drawers. Customize with three wood choices and multiple color finishes. Made in New York. Starting at $1,499.

Modu-Licious Bed from Blu Dot Available in Twin, Full, Queen and King. Customize with three wood finishes and six drawer colors. Starting at $1,299.

Wyatt Storage Bed from Room and Board Available in Twin, Full or Queen. Customize with fabric or leather, low or high headboard. Made in North Carolina. Starting at $1,499

MANDAL Bed Frame from IKEA Available in Full or Queen. Starting at $349.

Sylvan Storage Bed from West Elm Available in Queen or King, with or without the baskets. We're not usually fans of these open cubby style beds but at this price it gives the IKEA bed a run for its money. Since the price has been slashed we suspect this bed is being phased out so get it while you can. Starting at $449.

Sumatra Storage Bed from Pottery Barn Available in Full/Queen and King/California King. Indonesian hardwood with mahogany finish. Starting at $1,999.

Bowery Storage Bed from Crate and Barrel Available in Full, Queen and King. Solid walnut with walnut veneer and metal accents. Starting at $1,799.

Matera Bed with Storage from DWR Available in Twin, Full, Queen, King and California King. Customize in two finishes - oak and walnut. Starting at $3,160.

I love storage beds! It's the only kind we've had for the past 7 years!
A wonderful thing when you're low on storage space- it's always where my sheets are stored.
But a PS: It's really difficult to find an affordable one. We had the IKEA bed, which was ok, but had to be reinforced. We left it in our old apartment. In our new place, we ended up finding a solid wood model at a local store called The Mill Store http://www.millstores.com/
I love storage beds! I really like the storage bed from West Elm. My kids have the Lily Rose storage bed (from Amazon.com), and they are great for storing all their stuff!
Ah! I love these so much. We've just been using rolling storage under our beds, and while it works for us for now, I dream of storage beds like these for extra shoes, sweaters, etc.
I would love to find one that was affordable that I like. I don't get the ones with the cut outs for opening. That would just let dust in! I guess they are trying to avoid hardware to bump up against but I would rather pull from the bottom or risk hitting hardware than to have holes in the drawers!!
I think it's to make them look less like storage beds. I don't mind the openings. The Pottery Barn bed is nice, but I don't like hardware on the bed.
I've been searching for a 12-drawer model for a while, and think we've found a winner (albeit one that needs finishing and different drawer knobs) at Gothic Cabinet Craft: http://www.gothiccabinetcraft.com/storage-bed-12-drawers-on-glides-queen/
Finding the right one has been a saga -- the ones we looked at are detailed at http://www.dohiy.com/2013/02/14/quest-for-the-elusive-storage-bed/
Instead of purchasing a new bed, I used this storage boxspring/base from Ikea. Fits perfectly under my king bed and holds an enormous amount of stuff. Because it has gas assisted springs it is pretty easy to open - even with a king-size tempurpedic on top.

All the ones that aren't ugly are way out of my budget
My Dad just got the MANDAL from IKEA and we helped him assemble it. It took us all afternoon, no exaggeration. Dad likes it, which is the important thing, but I actually thought it looked a little flimsy. Also, his bedside tables block the opening of the drawers near the head of the bed.
I've been looking for a quality storage bed for about a year, and I've had my eye on this one by Copeland: http://vermontwoodsstudios.com/products/monterey-hardwood-platform-storage-bed
It's a little pricey, but it saves me on spending money on another dresser.
What I would LOVE for my daughter's room is a storage + trundle bed that is as sleek as the IKEA Hemnes http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30080316/
But not the Hemnes. Which we have. And it just never sits square, the top decorative pieces fall off, and it generally looks shabby in just a short time.
I'd pay up to $1000 for a better option! The ones I've seen are very high. What's nice about the Hemnes is that it's standard height.
The Buden Bed from Viesso is AWESOME! You can customize the drawer options and we loaded the bed with drawers along the base of the bed, along the side, and in the headboard. There are about 10 drawers in our bed with tons of storage. The drawers are well hidden and slide real well - you can open and close a drawer without waking anyone up! A great bed:

The Chadhaus Loft Bed with Storage. The cubby holes are inspired.

I can't speak to the quality of this bed, and I wish the storage was on the sides, not the end. However....for the style and this price, it's hard to beat.

I should say that I'm trying to decide if I'm going to buy this bed...but haven't yet.
I have the same SULTAN ALSARP as derekw above linked in the Queen. Now that was a mojor pain to assemble! Took nearly 2 days! But its been great for storage. It weighs a ton and is nearly impossible to move. I had mine on the 7 ince legs to create even more storage unnderneath. That lasted for 2 years until I pushed the bed to mop the floors underneath (as part of the January Cure no less) and one of the legs completely broke off. The frame is now sitting directly on the floor and I actually like it much better. :-D
I've been looking for a bedframe for 3 years. I recently looked at the Ikea site and they have a new bedframe with storage FJELL. I think this is the one I'm going with. It resembles the Pottery Barn one but less expensive.

One thing I've noticed about storage beds, cheap to expensive, is that the drawers go all the way to the headboard. Not a problem if you don't use a nightstand, but a bit of a hassle if you do! Speaking from a utility point of view, that's bad design. Alas, items placed in these drawers will probably be forgotten, left to wonder why they were abandoned, while the things in the other drawers get to come out and be used.
Granted, not everyone uses nightstands, but if the Bedroom contest is any indication, most of us do.
I bought this in January and I LOVE it- I lost the box springs and gained the extra storage: http://www.wayfair.com/Forever-Foundations-Forever-Store-More-Mattress-Foundation-FSM-FEL1008.html LOVE IT!!
You can hack the modern-looking IKEA MALM w/ the IKEA SULTAN ALSARP for $389 (full-sized). I love mine! http://www.heathashli.com/2010/08/ikea-hack-malm-w-storage-boxspring/
I'm surprised this IKEA bed hasn't made it on the list: http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/S69902945/
There's even an optional headboard with little side cubbies.
We bought the Madagascar storage bed from Bedroom Expressions/Furniture Row.
Once I got past my horror over shopping at a chain store (I'm more of a DIY/salvage/vintage person) I really liked it. Big deep drawers and the "top" (under the head) is a cabinet style door that opens with pressure hardware. So we can have bedside tables as long as they are a few inches from the bed. And it was very easy to put together.
We have a very small bedroom and no closet at all so the storage is priceless.
But here's my question.... I recall reading about a storage bed hack that used two narrow bookcases turned on the side as the base. Anyone have a link or know what I'm talking about?? I'd love to do this with the queen-sized bed my daughters share.
These drawers don't go all the way to the headboard, but they look pretty shallow.

Drawers are great but can you put a piece of luggage inside it? I've had a hydraulic lift storage bed from CondoBed now for about 3 years years and I wouldn't trade it for anything with drawers. I guess it comes to the usage. Drawers I find are good for socks and under garments but usually all that goes in my dresser or chest of drawers anyways. They're both great but my advice is to really study what you're going to use it for.
