The Matera Bed
I am generally against storing things under your bed because I feel it creates bad bedroom energy, BUT I do find it necessary - at least a little bit - in NYC, so I've created and update this list each year. Following are the best storage beds that I know about, at a wide range of prices. If you are going to store, keep it organized, clean and as uncluttered as possible. And if you don't need to, good for you! But save this list for the day you need it ;-)....
High End:
>> Zanotta Night Bed by Carlo Columbo - Very Italian and clean with a similar hydraulic lift to Flou
>> Flou Beds - Flou specializes in beds and has 24 models with storage, including their signature hydraulic lift beds.
>> Matera Bed - Designed by Sean Yoo for DWR, this elegant frame is made of walnut and includes six vacuum-closing drawers.
>> Box Bed by Emaf Progetti - Another Italian confection with an even cleaner look from Unica Home
Middle Rung:
>> The Anderson Ultimate Bed - This is a niche killer on storage. Taking away the need for a dresser, the bed comes with so many options that allow you to fill the base with easy-pull drawers on both sides and on the end, as well as adding clip-on side tables.
>> Blu Dot Modulicious - These Minnesotans did an amazing job updating the "captain's bed" into a modern item.
>> Wonk Knickerbocker Storage Bed - Similar to Blu Dot, but a little beefier and woody, Wonk's Brooklyn design shop also offers a wide range of finish and hardware options here.
>> The Boxer Storage Bed - From England, this may be hard to get, but it's a really nice design.
>> Simple Maple Bed with Storage Drawers - If you like stripped down, simple and green, this is a great option. These Pacific Rim beds are VERY GOOD: "Each piece is hand-rubbed with a finish of tung oil and pure beeswax to highlight the natural beauty of this distinctive Maple hardwood. They are free of toxic glues, formaldehyde and particle board and considered environmentally safe for your children's bedroom and nursery."
Accessible:

>> Storage Bed from West Elm.
>> Bossa Bed from EQ3.
>> Locker Bed from PBTeen.
>> Harmonica Storage Bed from CB2.
>> MANDAL Bed with Storage from IKEA. This is your rock bottom value buy starting at $329.
DIY:

Shaw's Original Fir...
Bassett Furniture has a really wonderful storage bed (I own it). Very well made, and more affordable than some of the others I looked at. The cedar-lined drawers smell wonderful too.
I'm loving the PBTeen locker bed.
Does Feng Shui have to come up every time under the bed storage is mentioned? I'm sick of hearing about it already.
We have the 6-drawer captain's bed from Gothic Cabinet Craft, paired with the floating headboard:

Not the most highbrow option out there, but it's sturdy, affordable, and provides a ton of storage.
We have DIY platform with storage underneath. It is made of plywood and a lot like the picture above, except that the platform is only the size of the mattress. We tend to fill our cubbies with crap that we don't really want people to see and don't really want to look at ourselves, so I am custom making an extra long bed skirt to cover them up.
Door Store has a great Flou knock-off in brown box-tufted leather. Not quite as elegant, but with a full lift-up storage space it is very handy and inexpensive.
Another DIY Option $160 for instructions & "Kit".
I am thinking of ordering it....any thoughts or suggestions?

If you lived in Arizona---a finished bed is $360!
To continue...I've look at several lift / hydrolic beds in NYC but most of them are not high enough to store what I want, golf clubs, skis, luggage etc.
The lift storage bed plans call for 15" vs. the "lucassa bed" from door store, which has only 10" of storage height.
Some great beds!
Our shop makes a storage bed as well-- check out the 'Spengler Bed' in the furniture gallery at http://www.eastvoldcustom.com/
I've designed an amazing contemporary storage bed-see it here http://objectinteriors.com/beds.html
I just noticed that Westelm came out with a storage bed:

the price is half decent, does anybody know if this is a good option? I've always wanted a bed like this because my ny room is never big enough to access the drawers on both sides (forget about pulling them out...)
Found it.. The lift up storage beds at http://www.beds2love.com are terrific. Great quality. I would always hit my shins with my previous bed. So I decided rounded corners would be way better. Also it's a lot safer for your family specially if you have small kids
