It's that time again, our annual Room For Color Contest, and lotsa folks are sharing great pops of color in a place that is easier than painting a wall: throw pillows. This year I've cleaned up last year's list and culled some great new sources for the freshest pillow list ever.
This year's list is divided by types of style. It's not perfect, but it really helps to navigate all these great designs. Enjoy, pass it on, and if you know of a great one I've missed, leave it in the comments or email me "PILLOWS" at maxwell (at) apartmenttherapy (dot) com.

The pillows above are from Rob, who sent this in: "I spoke to my mom and told her about the amazing needle-point pillows that Jonathan Adler created. Knowing she was a needle-pointing maven in the 70's, I asked her if she could make some for my red leather couch. We decided on Andy Warhol icon's and we had an artist in Cincinnati paint the images for us onto a canvas. While each took months to complete, the pillows are the centerpiece of my apartment and speak for themselves. Thanks, MOM!!!"

Sprout Side Table
I may have completely missed it but I didn't see throw pillows from Room and Board on here. They are definitely not inexpensive but the fabrics they use are gorgeous and they're very well made. Love them, love them, love them. :)
There are several sellers on Etsy.com that have beautiful pillows. I've bought several and am always astounded at what a great deal they are for the quality of workmanship and materials.
LOVE those Warhol pillows - awesome!
It seems like every time I see a pillow cover I want on Etsy, it is not machine washable. That is not acceptable.
Love Donna Wilson!!!
Looking for a great fall pillow? I've completely fallen for Amenity's new collection of eco-friendly, sustainably sourced, fair wage, Striped Alpaca Pillows. Soft & cozy!

awww! you missed the beautiful bargello pillows that I do. They are all lovingly hand embroidered. Please visit me at lisolabella.etsy.com. Thanks
Yes, you missed Erin Flett's line of pillows. A fabulous collection of funky and bold designs and colors, and Made in Maine. Check her out at: http://www.etsy.com/shop/erinflett
Seriously, Erin Flett's pillows are wonderful. I have the mr. nutt one and plan to get 4 more!
I am having a design crisis. I bought two gorgeous (real) ikats (not prints, hand woven fabric) at the flea market for $10 each. The are about the size of table runners, and about 18 inches wide.
I can keep them intact or make them into toss pillows for my living room, where the colors would work perfectly.
I hate to cut them! Once they are cut that's it, they are what they become.
What would you do!?
I agree that Etsy is the best place for pillows! Expensive pillows make me sad, but these are great: http://www.etsy.com/shop/annilygreen .
What a fabulous list of pillows! Thank you so much for including PillowThrowDecor on Etsy on the list again for 2010!
I also agree that Etsy is the best place for pillows! In fact there you could buy a real designer pillow - designed just for your home, one of a kind or limited edition, and prices are usually better then elsewhere. I have a small pillow boutique there and I could tell you at least 10 names of my Etsy colleagues who create real pillow haut couture!
www.fabricadabra.us - best place for ikat/batik/weinrib-esque pillows that are affordable!
Thank you for this list! I spend hours and hours on Etsy browsing pillows. My favorite shop right now is The Home Centric. http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheHomeCentric
Almost forgot to mention Bexcaliber on Etsy!
Everything is under $25 and she has some lovely pillows I have on my "To Buy" list.
