Name: Beth
Location: London, England
We live in a 1960s townhouse in London which has been in our family since its construction. We have spent the past four years rebuilding many areas of the house including the kitchen, garden and living areas and creating an open plan living space. The house is furnished with a mixture of vintage flea market and High Street finds and the kitchen area is almost entirely decorated with vintage knicknacks collected from charity shops and car boot sales.
I have kept the backdrop white and brought colour into our home using soft furnishings and an ever growing collection of photographs, pictures and ceramics. I have been collecting vintage fabrics for many years now which I turn into cushions both for our home and for our newly opened online shop.
Thanks, Beth!

Lovely. I have a feeling this is going to attract a lot of "Boring" comments, but this kind of soft, neutral palette is totally my style, and the bones of the house are beautiful. The lamp in the last shot is also great. I'd have loved more pictures of the colorful furnishings and photos referenced in the profile. Also, is it me or is there just a single potted orchid that was moved around for different shots? In almost all the pictures, that seems to be the only dose of color besides the green/gray/cream combination. Again, though, I think this place is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
What a great pad. I like the spare, clean lines, especially in the kitchen. And the dining room artworks are very evocative.
My only suggestion is that the IKEA lamp in the dining room is desperately crying out for some hacking. It's inexpensive and practical, but also ungainly and topheavy. I'd love to see it with a new shade that suits the retro cool of the room.
Perfect balance of color and neutrals ~ lovely. Looks like a magazine shoot to my eye. The textiles are so authentic, I'm not surprised they're vintage.
Beautifully done. I love the retro feel and the simplicity of it all!
i love it! more please :)
Nicely done. It looks very relaxing. Saw just a bit of the outside in one photo and would have liked more.
Beautiful orchids and I assume the one by the stovetop only stays there for photo shoots.
Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful, clean, simple.... love it!
I want to see the bedroom & bathroom !!!
I would love to know where the countertops are from?
Very nice indeed.
perfect. lovely home!
Very nice job!
So plain to see where Orla Kiely got her inspiration from ...
Is that the Regolit Ikea lamp? I'd love to have the same setup over my dining room table, but online it says it's only suitable for use over a coffee table. Are they wrong?
What a great space! I can just picture myself at a dinner party there...
I'm 99.9% certain that's the same orchid, just moved from room to room.
hey, orchids are expensive! hahaha.
i love this! i love the pillows and the touches of greens here and there. love the kitchen counters!!
Love!!
Beautiful. I am so envious of that kitchen! Oh how I want an open kitchen.
so pretty...especially love all the drawers under the cook top. Wish it were the standard for all kitchen design.
Great project! More pics please. Regarding centrd's comment about the drawers under the cooktop, I couldn't agree more. We had them in our last kitchen, and I can't tell you how nice it was to have your heavy pots & pans right there. I'm a sucker for the freestanding, slide-in Wolf/Viking range look, but the under cooktop drawers make a kitchen.
Love the different colored Eames shells with the wooden legs. The chairs really carry the dining room.
Again, great space. More pics please!
Want to know how the non-bracketed open shelving was mounted??? I too would like to see more of the house.
Modest, unaffected and charming. I love your combination of honesty, practicality and great taste.
Love the daybed and the dining chairs. Whereabouts exactly in London did you get them from?
Hello everyone,
Firstly, thankyou for all your kind comments about our home, I am really flattered by your enthusiasm and kindness. i shall try to answer your questions here.
ORCHID!! Yes, it is the same orchid which floats from room to room, well spotted!
Worktops: Iroko Wood from a local woodyard, slighly thicker than standard worktop for a more contemporary feel.
Dining room lamp: Yes it is Ikea.
Dining Chairs : Eames supplied by Vitra
Daybeds: Old Habitat design tho' they do new version.
Floating Shelves: I cannot explain succinctly enough how to build these but Wikihow.com has great instructions if you type in 'how to make floating shelves'.
I hope this helps. Any more questions, please feel free to ask and I shall do my best to answer.
Many Thanks, Beth x
Very comfy! Excellent choice of color, textiles and furniture~!
Love the airy, Scandinavian feel. My only concern would be the open shelving right next to the stove top. A bit too close for me - it would get greasy in our home for sure since we cook a lot.
