Name: Bianca
Location: Woodstock — Cape Town, South Africa
I'm an American living abroad in Cape Town, South Africa and earlier in the year purchased a 100-year-old semi-detached cottage in the areas's fastest growing suburb, Woodstock. Once plagued by crime and poverty the area is now filled with brightly-coloured refurbished Victorian homes.
With a tight timeline we renovated our little Victorian in just 6 weeks with a brand new kitchen, two bathrooms and master suite extension — complete with walk-in closet.
The once dark and narrow cottage is now a blindingly bright and airy abode — a truly whimsical space inspired by Jonathan Adler, Kate Spade, Pop Art and just a little bit of Hollywood Regency.
From painted headboards and cuckoo clocks, to retro cabinets and perspex chairs, our cottage is our own little work of art, one we like to keep "touching up" now and then.
Thanks Bianca!

White Enamel Flatwa...
Just lovely! I really love the black paint in the bathroom
Gorgeous! And ... SIX WEEKS? I'm beyond impressed. I'm floored. That's an incredibly tight timeline to get things so well arranged and curated.
If that is the IKEA couch I'm thinking of, I do NOT recommend it. Trusttttt, people. You get what you pay for.
Love!! House tour please!
This might be a rude question, but are those Philippe Starck chairs throughout? Or knock-offs?
Beautiful. I like how bright and airy the place feels, the transparent/ghost bar stools and the two armchairs in the living room work really nicely. I'm totally loving the floors!!!
Wow. I would like to see a full tour that includes the exterior. And good job getting seven shots in the five spot.
Wow-eeee! Me like!
Thumbs up; so bright and cheery.
beautiful... I just wouldn't want to have to keep it clean. :-)
Thank you for all the lovely comments :)
@Craigslistdecorator: we don't have Ikea in South Africa, but the couch is from a really great store that offers cheaper furniture. We have two kittens so an expensive couch at this stage would be silly :)
@ Anne Alexander Sieder: you have no idea! But ultimately a house is still dirty no matter the color, it has created good habits like regular sweeping :)
@DCGirl33, yes they are not real Philippe Starck Ghost Chairs but sadly in South Africa it is very difficult to get designer furniture, particularly in Cape Town.
Hi Bianca,
I am South African too, well done with your place on what few budget friendly resources SA has to offer. Who did your kitchen?
Beautiful space by the way! =)
Stunning!
Gorgeous! I would love to see more.
Bianca, I love your place almost as much as I love my own Woodstock pad. As for the cats and couch, let me know if you figure out how to deter the kittens from scratching. After a year I am still too scared to buy a new couch for fear of it being shredded.
i love it! i wouldn't change anything, just perfect, calm and vibrant at the same time.
Craving to see more of this divine place PLEASE!!
More, more, more, please!
This is a beautiful house indeed.
Great space Bianca, Cape Town rocks!!!!
This is truly beautiful Bianca so fresh and stylish. Love how the yellow is happy and invites you in. Love the floors also however as I live in Qld in Brisbane the floors would be caked with mud after the recent floods.
Full house tour PLEASE!!!!!!
Congratulations on creating such a lovely home. I adore the white floors and walls. And your choices of accessories are just lovely. Great work.
@Bianca, where did you get the silver or lilac round throw pillows?
thanks
@geyes design: the silver pillows were from @home - a store in South Africa - in fact all the pillows pictured are from there :)
Bianca, your house is gorgeous and I'm simply dying to see more. These glimpses are such a tease. ;)
Hi, I live in Cape Town too. Well done I love it.
Please tell me where you got your mirrored desk in your bedroom.
