Man alive! Big Brother Season 12 is coming along swimmingly. It's our favorite guilty pleasure of the summer and this year, a team of our friends are playing fantasy Big Brother (does it get any better? Nope!). Except with this years BB house, the set designers have gone a little retro with a South Beach inspired theme.
With bedroom names like The Palm and The Sunset Room, we couldn't help but take a closer look at where this years contestants are slumbering. In one space, 1980s black and green palm wallpaper stands out but is nicely balanced with a pair of jet black (and super shiny) mid century modern chairs. We like the Sunset Room for it's thick glass blocks which give the tones of orange in the space a shimmery quality. Upstairs, the Head of Household room gets a more vintage glam makeover with pale blue walls and plush white carpeting underfoot. This years house also boasts a Cabana room (love) and a flock of faux pink Flamingos for that extra kitsch factor. There's plenty more photos (and recaps of the show) on the Big Brother website--thanks CBS!

as mediocre and superficial as hgtv room makeover :)
"I'll just be glad when the ratings run out on this craze."
Networks love Reality Shows
They have no end of folks who are lined up to make complete fools of themselves for the chance at a little money and notoriety - production costs are extremely low compared to a sitcom or drama...
...and there are no end of fools willing to waste their lives watching that crap.
Imo, the decor is as tacky as the show.
I stopped watching this nonsense three seasons ago. I'm so over Big Brother and I'm getting tired of all the lame reality shows too.
bepsf-- as a "fool" who wastes my life "watching that crap," i wonder-- is it really any worse than wasting ones life publicly, patronizingly judging those with differing tastes? i think most would agree-- your questionable cultural snobbery is potentially more harmful than my reality tv appreciation. but what the heck do i know? i'm just a fool.
I'm seeing quite a lot of IKEA in there.
It's way, way over the top. I certainly wouldn't want to live there. But it's fun to look at, to see things taken to such an extreme...
Those poor stuffed flamingos are going to get molested!
I think the bedrooms look very cheesy "massage parlour." And what is that dangling from the doorknob next to the bathrobe?!! Do I dare ask?
This space is definitely designed to keep people awake and agitated. Should help push along the drama...Some of the textiles and treatments are fun, but the whole thing is WAY too much, imho.
I really hate the flamingos......!!! Why taxidermy when you can go full on plastic!!! The real garden plastic ones would have been awesome instead of those sad feathered things!!
Bepsf, love your comments. Reality shows are a sample of a very toxic circle... the ones who put their dignity (or lack of it) on public display and the ones who avidly tune in every night to watch it.
There is and always will be people desperate for attention (that's why facebook and youtube are so popular!!)
@MrMischief , I applaud your comment. I really enjoy Big Brother and don't consider myself a "fool" because I watch something besides Mad Men.
i don't watch tv, so thanks for sharing this!
it's obviously over the top, but i adore the palm print wall paper behind the black chairs. i'd absolutely recreate that look in a small space like a dining nook or entryway. reminds me of nicky hilton's kitchen, based off the beverly hills hotel: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7voWRpt7Li4/R7UL-rOxxPI/AAAAAAAABRc/vVFjL4XUtFQ/s1600-h/dining.jpg
not gonna lie, i'm charmed by the flock of flamingos. practical for my own home? absolutely not. but they make me smile.

Not a fan of the show...or the decor!
