Name: Anna (4)
Location: Cleveland, OH
Color Inspiration: This room's color inspiration actually came from Anna's nursery. She had a brightly colored striped rag rug from Crate and Barrel and polka dot bedding from Babylicious. The room was intended to be neutral since we didn't know if we were expecting a boy or girl. After Anna was born, I hoped to use pieces from that space to grow with her into her new room. The next step from there was her "big girl" bedding. I picked the red and white floral because I wanted bright, fun and more "girlie" space without being the stereotypical pink or purple. I love the combination of pink, red and aqua so there are a lot of spots of that around the room, and that's how I chose the color for the armoire.
Tip for Using Color: I love the quote that Clinton and Stacy on TLC's "What Not to Wear" say...it doesn't have to match, it just needs to "go".
Another tip, when choosing paint colors, always pick out a bunch of shades in a range of what you think you might like and then lay them out against one another as well as against white. It really helps you to get a better idea of how the color will really look once it's up on the wall or covering your furniture. Sometimes those colors that look so perfect might be way too saturated, or those shades that look too light might be just right!
Colors Used: Red, bright pink, aqua, yellow, kelly green
