Chris Brigham — a graphic designer with a knack for woodworking and building things — has a new design for bicycle storage that takes the cake for sophisticated options for small space cycle storage. His Bike Shelf features a groove for your bike frame and a ledge for storing a helmet and gear or anything else.
Shown here in solid walnut, Chris is open to taking orders for your own custom BIke Shelf at his site,
Knife & Saw. Walnut shelves are $300 and Ash shelves are $275 — more info: Knife & Saw | Bike Shelf Pricing.

Z2 iPod Dock and Wi...
This looks easier and safer than raising up a bike with pulleys--good work.
So much better looked then my current bike wall rack... I'll take 4 please
What a great idea and a great use of space! I love it!
this only works with men's bikes :(
yincrash, I was just about say, "What about womens' bikes?"
Great idea but $300 for a single shelf is a bit much.
"What about womens' bikes?"
...or Mountain Bikes.
Well, couldn't it work with some women's bikes? The bike would just be... tilted.
Very clever and a nice idea for a frame with a straight, thin top tube with no frills or rear brake cables (hello fixed gear riders).
"Women's" bike isn't the right vernacular for the tilted bar - they're called step-through. My bike looks like the one pictured with a horizontal top tube.
beautiful. kudos.
It only does men's bikes! What about women's bikes, or motorcycles, or segways, or mini coopers?
I registered just to comment that this is awesome and that I'm going to make one of these for my new house.
Very slick looking.
Agree with caseoftornados. A straight bar is not a "men's bike" and a step through is not "women's bike".
gorgeous, but yeah, yikes on the price.
The shelf here was designed specifically for my bike and I know it isn't like all others. I have tweaked the shelf to fit frames with larger top tubes/cables/etc. Unfortunately I have not designed a step through or mixte version, but am hoping to in the near future. I will let you know. Here are the current specs for the shelf. If your bike doesn't fit in these spec and you are interested, just email me and we can hopefully tweak it for your needs.
I want one!! My bike isn't a stepthrough, so it would hang nicely....I just wish I could afford it right now.
Maybe later. Stocking the savings account. :D
Cool,smart.
this is brilliant (even if the price is ... completely unreasonable).
raj21's comment is spam, by the way.
Very cool! But you need space to accomodate the length of the bike. Mine has to hang.
strongly agree about the women's bikes vs stepthrough distinction -- all of the bike's ive ever owned (as a woman) have had straight top tubes, but i have male friends with casual bikes with slanted top tubes!
also, this is really freaking cool.
doh. *bikes.
