Here's another great example of what can happen when you don't have a closet. You create something like this Billy bookshelf/closet like Rachel of Smile and Wave did. Add some rods and hooks, and consider covering the back with your favorite wallpaper, print, or woodgrain contact paper to get the look shown here.
Rachel Denbow recently shared the updated room of Ruby and Sebastian. We shared this room back at the close of 2009 and it's undergone quite a few changes since then.
There are a ton of endearing corners in this room, so head over to Smile and Wave to see the complete room and all of the details.

Fantastic! Best Billy I've seen in a long time ;)
Perfect timing! I am decorating the nursery for my daughter (due in 3 months) and the room doesn't have closet, so I was planning to use either a PAX or LACK to do this same thing! How did you attach the closet rod to the bookcase? That's had me a bit stumped and has been keeping me from going with LACK.
Thank you! Very nice job!
Keri,
I used some screw in hooks and screwed them up into the bottom of the shelf above (make sure to center them so the hangers will fit) and then carefully placed a short rod in them and stretched it out just a touch. It's really sturdy.
Thanks for the feature!
This is such a great idea, and I want those beautiful curtains!!
