I love these candles, and had about 6 in my fireplace last year. They looked great, until the bark surrounding them caught fire, so be careful about putting them too close together, like they are in the photo.
I also love birch lamps. This would be a great DIY:

I drilled some holes into a birch log with one of those whatchamacallit big drill bits. Votives fit inside. Beautiful, but as msmezzo warns, never burn unattended!
