Red Hook based Uhuru was showing off their new Kupe collection of furniture at BKLYN Designs this weekend. Crafted from used bourbon barrels from Kentucky, the Kupe collection includes various benches and side tables, a framed mirror and lounge chair. The different furnishings help make use of all the parts of the barrel — the staves, metal bands and circular heads...

Bourbon barrels (made from white oak) are charred on the interior to produce the color and flavor of the bourbon.

I always love the look of reclaimed wood furniture and I love that they are reusing something that would have otherwise gone to waste.
Actually, bourbon barrels don't go to waste. After they are used to age bourbon, they are often purchased by foreign whiskey (or whisky) distillers to age their spirit in.
Yeah, i'm really concerned about these people using up all the burbon barells to make something as silly as a chair.
I can sit on the floor if need be but i can't survive my family at the holidays without Makers Mark!!!
LOL at the comment by Dahlia.
That lounger is everything! Any info on pricing?
