Q: My daughter's bedroom is in significant need of a makeover. We moved in November of last year and she has been so patient. I'd like to honor her request for a classy Halloween-themed bedroom (sans spiders) with black walls.
Not horror film and blood-spatter Halloween; classy quasi-Victorian Halloween. I'm just really, reeeaalllyy nervous about painting black bedroom walls. Sure, I've seen pics of rooms here on Apartment Therapy where black walls definitely work exceedingly well. But for a teen girl's room—is it too extreme? Can it be done well without a faux texture or wallpaper? Can it be classy and inspiring for the very intelligent young lady, or will it just end up soul-suckingly depressing and gloomy?
